How does music work in Rooms?

Explains where room music comes from, who can change it, and how to mute it just for yourself.

Music in a Room comes from an internet radio station chosen by the room's owner. Everyone in the room hears the same station, and each player can mute it on their own device without changing it for anyone else.

Who can change the music in a Room?

In a player-made Room, only the room owner can pick, change, or turn off the station. In a Crew Room, the Crew's Leaders and members whose Crew role has Edit crew profile can too. Room moderators, designers, and visitors can't change it. If you want different music, ask the owner, or create your own Room.

In a World, the World's creator decides whether there is a radio at all and who can control it. Some event Worlds let players change the music or the scenery for the current session. Those changes last only while that room session is open: once everyone leaves and the room shuts down, it goes back to its default.

How do I pick a station for my Room?

  1. Open your Room's info panel.

  2. Tap the radio control. It shows the current station name, or Radio Off.

  3. Browse by Genres or search the Radio Stations list. Tapping a station lets you preview it.

  4. Select a station to play it for everyone in the room.

To stop the music for everyone, tap Disable on the Radio Stations screen.

Can I use my own stream?

Yes. From the station list you can enter a custom radio streaming URL instead of picking a station. It can be a direct streaming address or a link to a playlist file (.pls). The stream has to be publicly reachable and playing. If the stream drops and reconnects, people already in the room may hear silence until they leave and rejoin.

How do I mute the music just for me?

Tap the radio control in the room's info panel. If you're a visitor, that turns the music off for you, and tapping it again turns it back on. If you manage the room's radio, the control opens Radio Stations instead, where the Mute for me switch does the same thing. You can also lower Music Volume in Sound Settings. This only affects your device. The room keeps playing for everyone else, and the station stays muted for you in other rooms too until you turn the volume back up.

Why did the music change on its own?

The owner may have changed or disabled the station, or a temporary event change ended when the room session closed. If you own the room and your station keeps resetting, set it again and note the time it reset before contacting Support.
