We always make an effort to ensure that credit and compensation are fairly distributed to any player whose design we use for a real item. If you have concerns or would like to check if we used your design in our production process, please reach out to our Support team.
There are two cases in which we might use player designs: one uses existing vector art of real HR items to make redesigned items, and one calls for concept art for a specific theme.
1. Redesigns: where our art team uses an existing player-designed item as a base for a redesign.
If the redesign is intentional, the original item will end up on our event mood board and be marked so that credit may be given to the original player designer immediately upon release.
If the redesign is not intentional, a staff artist may have used the item as a base using our internal asset library. While rare, we will always give credit when we discover this.
As per our Terms & Conditions, our team retains the right to redesign, edit, or rerelease any item in our catalog, regardless of who originally designed the concept art for it.
2. Concept sourcing: you may see staff asking for item ideas for various releases in public channels; or sometimes, we’ll reach out to designers directly. This is the only time we use concept artwork from players outside of Concepts and Ideas. Compensation in such instances may differ from our pre-established rates for Concepts or Ideas.
Unless it’s a special occasion like a “Staff Picks” set, our team does not go through ended Concepts to source material.
