Reporting and Taking Action Guide

If someone is breaking the rules and making Highrise unsafe, the best way to help us is to report it correctly, which is what this article is for.

Updated this week

How do I report someone?

The best way to report them is directly on the content they posted. This gives the moderation team full context and speeds up review.

To report content:

  • Feed post: Tap the ⋯ icon on the post and select “Report”

  • Private message or chat: Tap and hold the message, then tap “Report”

  • Room chat: Tap the ⋯ icon next to the comment and select “Report”

Only report someone’s profile as a last resort, such as when the issue involves:

  • Inappropriate usernames or profile bios

  • Avatar abuse that isn’t tied to a specific post

  • A user evading prior bans or impersonating another account

All reports are reviewed by moderators. The person you report will not be notified, and your identity remains confidential.

What happens after I report a player?

Once a report is submitted:

  • A moderator reviews it manually, often within 24–72 hours

  • If the user violated the guidelines, action is taken (warning, mute, suspension, ban, content removal, etc.)

  • If no violation is found, the report is logged with no further action

Note: Due to privacy reasons, we don’t share the outcome of moderation cases. However, repeated abuse from the same user builds a history that impacts future enforcement.

Why wasn’t action taken on my report?

Reports are only enforced if there is clear evidence of a rule violation. Common reasons for no action include:

  • Insufficient or unclear evidence

  • Behavior didn’t violate the Community Guidelines

  • Report was duplicate or already resolved

To increase the likelihood of a report being actionable:

  • Include clear descriptions or screenshots

  • Report directly from the profile or chat where the behavior occurred

  • Avoid submitting multiple duplicate reports

How do I block or mute someone?

Blocking or muting lets you control who interacts with you in Highrise.

To block a user:

  1. Visit the user’s profile page.

  2. Tap the Flag icon located in the upper-right corner of the page.

  3. Select Block User from the list of options. After blocking someone, they will no longer be able to send you direct messages or interact with you on Highrise. This can be particularly useful if you encounter harassment or unwanted interactions.

Steps to Unblock a User

If you decide to reconnect with a user you previously blocked, you can unblock them by:

  1. Returning to the user’s profile page.

  2. Tapping the Flag icon in the upper-right corner.

  3. Selecting Unblock User from the available options. Once unblocked, the user will regain the ability to send direct messages and interact with you. This process can be reversed again if you change your mind.

To mute a user:

  • Muting hides their posts and comments without blocking interaction

  • Go to their profile and choose “Mute”

You can manage blocked and muted users in Settings > Privacy & Safety. Blocking is reversible, and you can unblock users at any time without notifying them. Use this feature responsibly to manage your personal space while promoting a respectful community.

How to Appeal:

If your account has been muted, suspended, or permanently banned and you believe it was a mistake, you can submit an appeal directly to the Highrise moderation team here.
