If you were kicked, muted, or banned from a specific room or world in Highrise, but your account is still active overall, this action was most likely taken by the owner or moderation staff of that specific space, not by the Highrise Trust & Safety team.
🏠 Room & World Moderation: How It Works
Highrise allows creators of rooms and worlds to set their own additional rules—on top of our platform-wide Community Standards—to help them build the kind of environment they want. Think of each room like its own small community, similar to how subreddit moderators can add their own rules on Reddit.
Community Standards = baseline rules for everyone
Room rules = optional extra rules that creators can add
Enforcement = okay in their own room, as long as it doesn’t override our main standards
This structure gives creators autonomy, while still keeping everyone protected under our platform policies. Let me know if you'd like to surface this in a Help Center or in creator comms!
Room owners and their assigned moderators can:
Set additional guidelines specific to their space
Kick, mute, or ban users who violate those local rules
Create the type of environment they feel best fits their vision.
⚖️ What They Can’t Do
Violate or override Highrise’s official Community Standards
Use moderation tools in a discriminatory, abusive, or harmful way
Ban users platform-wide (only Highrise Trust & Safety can do that)
👥 What This Means for You
If you’ve been removed from a room:
It does not mean your account is banned from Highrise
You are still free to join other rooms or worlds across the app
We recommend reaching out respectfully to the room owner if you believe it was a misunderstanding
Room owners have discretion over who can participate in their spaces, as long as their actions don’t violate platform rules. If you believe a room’s moderation was abusive or against our policies, you can report the room using the in-app report function.
🚨 Important Note
Only the Highrise Trust & Safety team can take actions like suspending your entire account or issuing a platform-wide ban. These actions follow a formal review process based on our Community Standards and almost always include a warning message explaining the infraction.
