I keep getting connection errors. What can I do?

What Highrise's connection messages mean and how to get back online when the app can't connect, disconnects, or lags.

Connection errors usually come from the network on your side or from planned maintenance. Check https://highrise.game/status first. If Highrise is up, switch networks, restart the app, and make sure it's updated.

What do the different messages mean?

  • No Connection: your device couldn't reach Highrise. Move somewhere with a stronger signal or switch networks, then try again.

  • Connection Error: the app reached the network but couldn't connect to Highrise. Tap Retry. The message includes an error code, so take a screenshot if it keeps happening.

  • Server Maintenance: Highrise is offline for planned work. Your progress is saved, and you can log in again when it's over.

  • You’ve Been Logged Out: your session ended. Log back in. If you didn't sign out and this keeps happening, contact Support.

  • Update Required: your app version is too old to connect. See How do I update Highrise, and which devices are supported?

What should I try?

  1. Check https://highrise.game/status to see whether any Highrise services have problems.

  2. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or move closer to your router.

  3. Turn off any VPN or proxy and try again.

  4. Close Highrise fully and reopen it.

  5. Restart your device and your router.

  6. Update Highrise to the latest version.

Highrise connects, but it lags or keeps dropping. Why?

Rooms with lots of players, voice chat, and video use more data. A weak or busy connection shows up as lag, delayed chat, or being sent back to the loading screen. Try a stronger network, and lower Graphics Quality in Settings, then Performance, if your device is also running hot or slow.

I can connect, but I can't join one Room or World. What's wrong?

That's usually about the Room or World, not your connection. A Room Join Error includes a code you can screenshot. See Why can't I join a Room?.

When should I contact Support?

If other apps work on the same network, the status page shows no problems, and the error keeps coming back, send a Bug Report from Support Center. Include a screenshot of the full error message with its code, your device model, your app version, and whether you were on Wi-Fi or mobile data. See How do I contact Highrise Support?
