Why can't I trade, tip, or gift after logging in on a new device?

Explains the temporary pause on moving items and Gold after a login from a new device, what it blocks, and what still works.

After you log in on a device that's new to your account, Highrise may pause the ways of moving items and Gold off your account from that device for a limited time. The pause protects you if someone else got your password: they can't empty your account the moment they log in. It ends on its own, and your other devices aren't affected.

What is paused?

If you try one of these, you'll see Transfers Temporarily Paused. While the pause is on, that device can't:

  • send tips, directly or through tip jars

  • gift items

  • accept trades (you can still offer, lock, and cancel them)

  • list items on the Marketplace

  • sell items back to the shop

  • stock a Grab machine or switch one on (switching it off still works)

What still works?

Everything else, including buying from the shop with Gold, receiving gifts, chatting, events, and Rooms. Devices you already used on the account keep working normally.

How long does the pause last?

It lifts automatically after a set time, and you don't need to do anything. The Transfers Temporarily Paused message tells you how much time is left on that device. Logging in again on the same device doesn't restart the clock.

Can Support lift the pause early?

Support can end the pause early for a device in some cases, but there's no guarantee. If the pause is still there after the time shown has run out, contact Support from Settings, then Support Center, and say which device you're using.

Is this the same as Safety Lock?

No. Safety Lock is a PIN you choose and enter yourself. The new-device pause is automatic. You can have both. See What is Safety Lock and how do I use it?

I didn't log in on a new device

If you see this pause, or get an email about a new login that you didn't make, someone else may have your password. Change it now in Settings, then Account Management, then Password, and read I think my account was hacked.
