Message Requests hold new conversations other players start with you, plus invitations to group chats. They stay there until you reply or join, so you decide who gets into your main Inbox.
Where do I find Message Requests?
Open your Inbox and tap Message Requests. A badge shows when you have unread requests. You may also get a notification like "New message request" or "wants to start a conversation with you."
How do I accept a request?
Open the request and reply. The conversation then moves into your main Inbox. For a group chat invitation, joining the group does the same.
How do I get rid of requests?
Delete a request to remove it, or select several and delete them together. If someone keeps messaging you, block them from their profile or the conversation. Blocked players can't message you. See How do I block or mute someone?
To report a message, tap and hold it and tap Report. To report the whole conversation, tap the info icon at the top, then the "..." icon, then Report Conversation.
Why am I not getting notifications for messages?
Push notifications have to be allowed for Highrise in your device settings, and Highrise has its own notification settings that control who can trigger them. See How do I change my Highrise notifications?, which also covers turning off notifications for message requests from strangers.
Can I edit or delete a message I sent?
Yes. You can edit a message for 15 minutes after sending it, and you can delete your own messages. Other people see that a message was deleted.
Can I pin conversations and messages?
Yes. You can pin up to 50 conversations so they stay at the top of your Inbox, and pin up to 50 messages in a conversation. In group chats, only group admins and the owner can pin messages. Crew chats always stay at the top.
Can I delete a whole conversation?
You can delete one-on-one chats. Group and Crew chats can't be deleted; leave the group instead. See How do group chats work?
What can I send?
Text messages up to 2,000 characters, GIFs, photos, gifts, trades, tips, and room invites. Photos and videos in messages need Highrise+ and are off for players under 18. See Which features are limited by age, and why can't I use voice?
