How do I update Highrise, and which devices are supported?

Update Highrise on phone, tablet, or computer, fix update problems, and check the minimum system versions.

Update Highrise from the store you installed it from: the App Store, Google Play, or Steam. If you downloaded the Windows or Mac app from the Highrise website, update it from Settings inside the app. To install the current version, your phone or tablet needs iOS 15.0 or later, or Android 8.0 or later.

How do I update on iPhone, iPad, or Android?

Open the App Store or Google Play, search for Highrise, and tap the update button if one appears. You can also turn on automatic updates in your store settings.

How do I update on a computer?

  • Steam: Steam updates Highrise for you. If an update is waiting, restart Steam.

  • Windows or Mac app from https://highrise.game/download: open Settings and look in the Help section. Tap Check for Updates when it appears, then Restart and Install Update once the update is ready.

Why does the app say Update Required?

When you see Update Required, the version on your device is too old to connect. On a phone or tablet, Update Now opens your app store. On a computer it opens the Highrise download page; if you play on Steam, update through Steam instead. A World can also ask you to update if it was made for a newer app version.

Why can't I see or install the update?

  • Updates can reach some players before others, so the store may not show it right away.

  • Make sure your device has enough free storage.

  • Check that your phone or tablet's operating system is new enough (see below). If it's older than the minimum, the store won't offer the current version.

  • Parental controls or Screen Time limits can block downloads.

  • Restart the device and try the store again.

Which devices can run Highrise?

Highrise is available on iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, and Steam. For download links, see Where can I play Highrise?

  • iPhone and iPad: iOS 15.0 or later.

  • Android phones and tablets: Android 8.0 or later.

  • Windows (website app or Steam): 64-bit Windows.

  • Mac (website app or Steam): macOS 12 or later.

Meeting the minimum doesn't guarantee smooth performance on every device. Older or low-memory devices may load slowly. Setting Graphics Quality to Performance in Settings, then Performance, can help.

How do I check which version I have?

Open Settings and scroll to the bottom. Your version number appears after "Version". Include it when you contact Support about a technical problem.

Still stuck?

See Highrise won't load, keeps crashing, or is stuck loading, or send a Bug Report from Support Center with your device model and operating system version.
