How does Recycling work, and what are Threads?

Recycle items you don't want for Threads or Bubbles, spend Threads in the Threads Exchange, and check what you'll get before you confirm.

Recycling turns items you don't want into Threads, Bubbles, or a Pal collection's currency. Threads are spent in the Threads Exchange. What each item gives is set per item, and the summary shows it before you confirm. Recycling replaced the old discard option. It's permanent once confirmed, so check the summary before you hold the button.

What are Threads?

There are two kinds: Basic Threads, which come from lower-rarity items, and Luxe Threads, which come from Epic and higher items. Both are spent in the Threads Exchange, a shop collection whose offers rotate. Items bought there are generally Account Bound.

How do I recycle from my inventory?

  1. Open My Items.

  2. Tap Recycle.

  3. Select the items to recycle. The menu has shortcuts: Select All Duplicates and Select All Unfavorited.

  4. Review the summary. It lists how many items you picked and exactly what you'll receive.

  5. Tap and hold to recycle.

Can I recycle right after opening a Blind Box?

Yes. The rewards summary after a pull lets you recycle items you just got from it. Duplicates are selected for you, and you can add or remove items before you confirm. After you recycle there, you'll see a button that takes you to the exchange for the currency you got.

How many Threads will I get?

It depends on the item and its rarity, and it's set item by item. Clothing from Blind Boxes usually gives Threads. Furniture, emotes, older clothing, and many items from shop sales or event rewards give Bubbles instead, and some items, such as profile backgrounds, give nothing. The summary always shows the total before you confirm, so rely on that.

Can I recycle Account Bound items?

Yes, if they have a recycle value. Creature Club NFT items can't be recycled.

Do Pal items give Threads too?

Pal accessories from Pal Blind Boxes usually recycle into that collection's own currency instead, such as Fluff for Snugglins or Whisker Coins for Purrlings, which you spend on that collection's items or pulls. The summary shows which currency you'll get. To recycle a whole Pal, open its item menu and choose Recycle Pal; anything bound to that Pal goes with it. Snugglins can also be recycled in a Snugglin World; see Snugglins: eggs, Fluff, and merging.

Why does it ask for my Safety Lock PIN?

Recycling is protected by Safety Lock. If you're on a device you haven't confirmed, you'll need your PIN. See Safety Lock.

I recycled something by mistake

Support may be able to reverse a recent recycle. See Can I undo an accidental Recycle?

Still need help?

If the currency you received doesn't match the summary, contact Support with your username, the time you recycled, and a screenshot. Your Transaction History lists recycling as Sell Items.
