How do I change my username?

Where to change your username, what it costs, the 14-day window to switch back, and the naming rules.

Change your username in Settings > Account Management > Username. Your first change is free. Every change after that costs 10,000 Gold, and there's no waiting period between changes.

How do I change my username?

  1. Open the app menu and tap Settings.

  2. Under My Account, tap Account Management, then Username.

  3. Type the name you want. The app tells you if it's available and what the change costs.

  4. Confirm the change.

If your account isn't registered yet, the app asks you to complete registration first. If you use Safety Lock, you may be asked for your PIN.

How much does it cost?

  • First change: free.

  • Every change after that: 10,000 Gold.

  • Changing back to your old name within 14 days: free (see below).

If you created your account without choosing a username and picked one while completing registration, that pick doesn't use up your free change.

Changing only the capitalization of your name (for example skyler to Skyler) counts as a regular change.

Can I switch back to my old username?

Yes, for 14 days. After a change, your previous username is held for you for 14 days and nobody else can take it. Switching back to it in that window is free, but any Gold you paid for the change isn't returned.

After 14 days the old name is released. If it's still free, getting it back costs the same as any other change.

If you change your name several times within 14 days, only the name you started with is held.

What are the username rules?

A username must:

  • be 3 to 30 characters long

  • use only letters, numbers, underscores (_) and periods (.)

  • not start or end with a period, or have two periods in a row

  • not already be in use or held by another player (capitalization doesn't make a name different)

Spaces are turned into underscores as you type.

What changes when I rename?

Your new username replaces the old one everywhere in Highrise, including your profile link. If you sign in with your username and password, use the new username from now on.

Can I get a username that someone else has?

No. Usernames on active, inactive, and banned accounts stay with those accounts, and there's no way to request or buy one. When an account is deleted, its username is released about 30 days after the deletion goes through. See How do I delete my Highrise account?

Can Support give me another free change?

Support doesn't add free changes for typos or a change of heart, so double-check before you confirm. If Highrise reset your username because it broke our naming rules, the message you received explains how to choose a new one, and Support can help.

If someone else changed your username without your permission, see My account was hacked.
